Tucked away on a ficus-lined street in the heart of Culver City, Calif., sits the Lincoln Avenue home, the house of actor Adam Sinclair and his wife, Michelle Kath, which just hit the market for $1,898,000.

Sinclair, who appeared in the tv show “Rizzoli and Isles”, and Kath, the daughter of Terry Kath (founding member of the band Chicago), have collaborated to make the charming 1930’s estate an extension of themselves, designed to be a gathering space for friends, family and neighbors. “The home was a blank canvas when we moved in, and there was a lot of room to make it our own,” says Sinclair.

What the couple created was a breath of fresh air; a retreat from the chaos of Los Angeles, which is noticeable in the thoughtfully curated layout of the home. From the updated indoor/outdoor kitchen to the garage-turned-man-cave, this Culver City house has a magical quality.

So magical, in fact, that the home – and the street that it’s on – was the inspiration for Sinclair’s latest project, “Lincoln Avenue,” a TV show based on his experience living in Culver City. “There’s a whole host of interesting characters in the show, but of course all the names have been changed,” said Sinclair.

The actual Lincoln Avenue, where the home sits, has an abundance of rich pop culture history. Famous movies like “Superbad” and shows like “Starsky and Hutch” have been filmed in and around the avenue. It even played a role in the video game, “Call of Duty: Black Ops,” thanks to Sinclair. “My friend is one of the designers and they made a brick-for-brick replica of our house for the game,” said Sinclair.

The kitchen was designed by Sinclair – who originally trained as a chef. The light, open room feels more like a communal space and includes top-of-the-line appliances, a trap door for a future wine cellar and a door that opens onto to the patio. “I wanted the kitchen to allow you to move quickly,” said Sinclair, “and having the kitchen be half indoors and half outdoors makes it easy to be part of the party while cooking.”

Before the couple moved into the home, a fire had ruined the interior of the garage. It was rehabbed by the couple, and served as a kids’ game room and office. Now, it’s a man cave where Sinclair has spent a lot of his time. “I restructured the whole thing to make it my own,” he said.

Sinclair and his family will miss the home when it sells. “There are so many memories in this house,” said Sinclair, “from Christmas morning with the entire family sitting by the fire, to Star Wars-themed birthday parties.”

The home is listed by Redfin agent Isabel Velez. “One of the features that I love the most about this home is that it has the original 1930s hardwood floors and glass knobs, which give it a vintage quality,” said Velez. “It has also been outfitted with solar panels, which is a very rare upgrade for a vintage home, and one that can save you thousands of dollars.”
