The other day I drove by a gorgeous new home at 3881 Jefferson Avenue up in Emerald Hills. This French Country inspired home looked graceful, elegant, and inviting. I imagined a cocktail party being held there, with soft lighting in the yard, lots of people mingling about discussing current events. I looked up the listing and further fell in love when I saw the kitchen with its big gas stove (with a water faucet above for canning and pasta), the huge master suite (of which there are two) and a master bathroom that had a great soaking tub (bring on the bubbles!). I was able to get in and sneak a peek and found beautiful tile work throughout, window seat benches in many rooms (and even a closet), and a really lovely well-built home. With a total of 4 bedrooms, 3.5 baths and 3200 square feet (on one-quarter acre), this home belongs up here in the hills and sports a price tag of $2,195,000. This got me wondering about what else was new in this neck of the woods in the $2mil range.
Not too far away at 951 Wilmington Way is a new Cape Cod home on a similar sized lot with slightly more living space at 3762 sf. Consisting of 5 bedrooms and 4 baths it looks to be a comfortable, well-appointed home with similar landscaping, same 2 fireplaces, and one more garage space. On the market 11 days, it is listed at $2,279,000.
Down the hill in a less prestigious, yet still upscale, neighborhood are two newbies at 10 and 30 Sienna Court. Both are Mediterranean inspired and maybe a bit more ornate or formal inside, one with columns and hanging chandeliers. Both are on similar acreage with 2-car garage. 10 Sienna is a 4 bedroom, 4 bath 3537 sf home on the market 102+ days for $2,249,000. 30 Sienna is a 4 bedroom, 2.5 bath significantly smaller home of 2045 sf, but does have a great patio with built-in outdoor fireplace for entertaining. Listed on Redfin at 137 days, it is currently priced at $2,049,000.
On the whole, the Jefferson property would be my top choice. Yes, it is on Jefferson, but quite high up and I don’t think the road noise would be any more problematic here than it would be for the Sienna properties, which are off of Oak Knoll. It is a large house, but not obnoxiously so, and there was a comfortable feel to the location and the property itself.
