Fungus lovers will have to start foraging elsewhere, because the “Mushroom House of Bethesda” has finally sold.
The four-bedroom, three-bath D.C. area home waited through the cooler temperatures of winter and finally sprang up with a new owner this spring, after spending six months on the market. It was listed in October for $1.2 million, and the price was dropped to $990,000 in February. The final sale price was $920,000, equivalent to nearly 41,000 pounds of dried shiitake mushrooms purchased from Amazon. Yikes.
“It’s an Alice in Wonderland style home with very unique features,” says Redfin agent George Maggio. “Most of this home appears to be constructed of white, fiberglass-metal mesh reinforced walls, both on the interior and exterior.”
We wish the new homeowners many years stuffed with love and capped off with happiness in their new mushroom abode!
