2016 is an interesting time to be looking for love, with lots of singles taking to the magical world of online dating to search for their other half. And thanks to dating sites like Match, the world’s largest relationship company, you can search for potential partners based on very specific criteria like career, income, height, physique, hobbies and whether or not they want to have kids.
Many people have “deal breakers” when it comes to choosing a potential life partner and one of those could be whether or not that person wants children.
There are a lot of individuals who are choosing to live childfree, so it’s no surprise that dating websites like Match offer it as a criterion. Couples opting for a zero-child household even have their own acronym: DINK, which stands for Dual Income, No Kids. And, well, DINKS also have that extra money to spend on things like vacations, dinners and, yup, real estate.
Redfin paired up with Match to come up with the top 10 cities with the highest percentage of singles 18-45 who don’t have children and don’t want children in the future. Then, Redfin took a look at what the real estate market looks like for one-bedroom homes in each of those cities, for people who aren’t planning on needing that second or third bedroom for the offspring.
