Looking for a brand new home to call yours? You’re in luck! Redfin just made thousands more new construction homes searchable on Redfin.com and Redfin’s mobile apps. NewHomeFeed.com, the database that homebuilders use to list their home plans (sometimes also called blueprints), gives Redfin users access to more information about new construction homes that aren’t yet built. This allows buyers to search home plans and purchase a home before it’s constructed. This appeals to buyers because it means that they can work with the builder to customize certain home features based on their preferences.

How to search new construction homes on Redfin.com
Whether you’re strictly looking to buy new construction, or want to browse new and existing homes that meet your criteria, you can do so on Redfin.com. By default, Redfin shows you all homes, whether new construction or existing, agent-listed or for-sale-by-owner, in the search results. To find just new construction homes and planned homes in your area, head to your Redfin search bar, click “Filters,” and only select “New construction.” If you find a plan you’re interested in, contact a Redfin agent via Redfin.com, email or phone. The agent can tell you more about the plan and help you navigate the process of searching for and buying a new construction home.

Advice for buying new construction
What are the pros of buying a new home? New construction homes generally offer a set price that won’t escalate into a bidding war, like prices can for existing homes. Depending on how long the home has been on the market, buyers can often negotiate a closing credit or other incentives from the builder. Working with an agent who has experience in new construction can up your negotiating power throughout the process.

While there’s usually less competition from buyers in new construction, that’s not always the case. When there are more interested buyers than homes available in a development, you’ve got to be first to get the home. With more information about builder-listed homes easily searchable on Redfin.com, Redfin tools such as Instant Updates and saved searches give homebuyers a crucial edge on the competition and help them quickly and easily find new homes. That means buyers don’t have to camp out for new homes!
