Last Friday, as a part of Take a Patriot to Work Day, Redfin agents in Northern Virginia hosted several students from George Mason University to give them an inside look at life in a busy real estate brokerage. Students had the chance to shadow agents and learn about what makes up their day to day, from writing offers to negotiating deals.
“I hope they’ll walk away from the experience with a good understanding of our business model and company culture and that they tell their friends and family that Redfin is a fun and welcoming workplace… because we’re hiring!” said Mary Gallagher, a Redfin recruiter.
Jeff Moore, a GMU student said it was a great opportunity to get a feel for the company. “I felt that everyone I met with truly embraced the values of Redfin.”
“The experience was outstanding. There is no other company I would want to work for if I was going into real estate,” said Rashaan Mateen, a student in the School of Management.
“Careers in the real estate industry are not often on the radar of students,” explained Gallagher. “However, Redfin’s model of providing a base salary and benefits along with a team atmosphere, mentoring and rapid growth potential makes becoming a real estate agent an attractive and far less intimidating option for recent graduates.”
