Brian Waters took over from Deborah Kennedy when she was having troubles with the sale of my home. A particularly difficult transaction with temperamental clients. They threaten to walk four times and we met all of their requests and Deborah was having a very difficult time dealing with the buyer’s broker. I did not fully understand that she was not going to be my representative at the table for the closing when I wasn’t able to be there and so she went on vacation and Brian waters took over from there. There were several things about the transactions that I think were mistakes and I was not particularly happy with but Brian Waters was able to bring the deal to close and we did sell the house and finalize the transaction. Brandon made every part of the process of selling our home extremely stressful. We spent most of the time either doubting that it would sell for anywhere near list price (it sold for full price), appraise for sale price (which it did), or have major issues with the inspection and so on. On multiple instances he even got my name wrong when he was calling me and seemed very distant from the process of selling our home. It often felt like he was working for the seller and in their best interest. If my only experience with Redfin were Brandon I would never recommend Redfin to anyone, I certainly wont be recommending him, luckily the agent we are using to buy with Redfin is top notch.

Bryan was immensely helpful and very patient. This is the first time we've tried to buy one house while selling the last one, and the houses in question are in different states, subject to different state laws. He has coordinated with our listing agent in New Jersey on two contingent offers we've made on homes in Maryland. If our house in NJ were to sell tomorrow, Bryan's the one we would go to to make a non-contingent offer.

To truly understand Bryan, you must first understand he is not your everyday real estate agent. As first time homebuyers we had a lot of questions even though we had done plenty of research ahead of time. He was always willing to share his knowledge and taught us a lot along the way. Beyond his real estate "book smarts" we found him to be incredibly personable, which was comforting in a scary housing market. Our search for a home included viewing countless houses and 5 offers over 7 months. Bryan stayed calm and patient the entire time even through our frantic calls and texts about our offers. Overall, our experience with Redfin and Bryan couldn't have been better. We never want to buy another house without him!!

Only negative point was a last minute mixup between builder, realtor, and lender that could have been alleviated by simply calling and confirming with me. We liked working with Bryan a lot. He seems to fit the RedFin style perfectly. We met Bryan for our first tour, a few times during the buying process, and at settlement. Most of our interaction was by phone or email. He does an impressive job of being responsive and attentive (despite that RedFin agents juggle multiple clients at once). Especially if you are a first-time home buyer, there are dozens of little steps and things you need to learn about along the way, and Bryan gracefully and patiently explains them. Initially, Bryan was helpful in my home search because I had already found a home in which I had an interest in purchasing. However, when things did not work out with that home purchase, Bryan's interest in helping me to find another home to purchase did not go so well. I put offers in on several homes and it was due to another agent at Redfin that gave me advice, which I felt should have come from Bryan, that helped in making a good offer on another home in which I had interest in purchasing . I do not think that Bryan truly had my interests in mind. It's as though he wanted to hurry up and sell me a house so that he no longer had to deal with me. Although, I have tried to give him the benefit of the doubt, my interest in using him to help with the purchase of a home has faded.

I think I may have erred in understanding the guidance this client may have wanted in light of my goal of never being too pushy. My client toured 18 times and viewed more than 30 properties. We worked on two offers and I wish we had been more successful. I worked hard to make certain my client was narrowing their search and I tried to guide them to a price range consistent with their financial situation. When there was a mismatch, I advised them in the best way I knew how especially given my background in the mortgage industry. I apologize if my suggestions were viewed as lack of interest in working with them but my intent was certainly to help them gain a property that fit all of their needs.

Bryan was amazing. He answered my questions almost before I could ask them. I really enjoyed working with him, because he maintained a calm presence no matter how many times I (as a first-time buyer) flipped out.

We have worked with Bryan on several offers and he was always professional, courteous and timely with his responses. He always made us feel like we were his only customers at the time. He quickly assessed our level of education on the closing process and met us right where we needed to be. For example, he suggested that we write a cover letter to increase our chances in a multiple offer situation, which we did. The closing agent later told us that part of the reason she chose us is because ours was the nicest, easiest to follow package and a great cover letter.

I had a chance to work with Mr. Bryan Waters for a few times. However, after two failed offers, Mr. Waters started to ignore my phone calls & emails, despite my numerous attempts to contact him. No explanations, just plain cold dropping a customer's relation. That is unacceptable.

Our goal at Redfin is always to provide the perfect level of guidance and support to each of our clients. There are times when we will fall short of this goal. When a client is preparing to make an offer, it is always helpful if they have prepared a laundry list of questions they have about the home, Redfin and the home buying process. This ensures that they get all of their questions answered. Typically, the biggest question a buyer has is "How much is this home worth?" Since we are not appraisers, we can only provide comparative market data that shows prices and recent sales for similar homes. The actual price a seller will accept for their property is solely at the seller's decision. Unfortunately, we cannot, as buyer's agents, force a seller to sell. We can only arm our clients with the best data available and help them put together a competitive offer. When I receive an offer from a client, I strive to handle all aspects of the offer and negotiations with a strong sense of urgency. This transaction was completed within 48 hours from initial offer, to counter offer, to cancellation of deal. I am in constant contact with the buyer and listing agent when one of my clients has an offer in the middle of negotiations. However, the negotiation process may take longer depending on the situation and the urgency expressed by the seller.
