Working with Jim Reed as our Redfin buyer's agent was an outstanding experience from start to finish. Jim was exceptionally helpful, guiding us through every step of the home-buying process with genuine care and expertise. He patiently toured us around Boston, thoroughly covering all the neighborhoods we were interested in, always going the extra mile to ensure we felt informed and confident. When it came time to place an offer, Jim’s strategic insights and strong negotiation skills made a huge difference, helping us craft an offer that stood out in a competitive market. Towards the end of our home buying journey, even though it wasn't required, Jim was right there by our side at the closing, offering support and reassurance as we completed the final paperwork with our attorney. Concerns Regarding Jim Reed’s Representation as Buyer’s Agent During our recent condo purchase in Chestnut Hill, MA, we found key aspects of Jim Reed’s representation lacking—particularly regarding a balcony door latch that posed clear safety and security risks. Prior to closing, we explicitly requested that the seller repair the faulty latch. Jim advised that the condo association would handle it, and we relied on this assurance in moving forward. However, after closing, our outreach to both the condo association and building superintendent yielded no action. The door remained unsecured, ultimately requiring us to cover the cost of repairs. This experience highlights the importance of agents securing written commitments for repairs before closing. While Jim was communicative, we... Show More
Agent Response:
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. While I was disappointed to read this review, I genuinely value all input from my clients as it helps me grow both personally and professionally.
This review is not reflective of the level of service I have consistently provided throughout my years as a full-time real estate agent. I take my role as an agent, consultant, advocate, and fiduciary incredibly seriously, and I am passionate about looking out for my clients' best interests every single day.
In this case, I understand the frustration regarding the broken lock on the sliding glass door. Unfortunately, this issue was missed by the buyer’s home inspector, who was not someone I recommended, and it was only discovered during the final walkthrough. Given the last-minute timing, the most efficient way to address the concern was to go through the client's real estate attorney, who was already handling the closing. Had I been made aware even one day earlier, I would have gladly stepped in to negotiate a credit on the client’s behalf.
Despite the circumstances, I offered to purchase a temporary lock from Home Depot to help address the issue until the building superintendent could complete the repair.
I care deeply about the work I do and the clients I serve. This is the first time I have received less than a five-star review in my career, and while that is disappointing, I will treat it as a learning experience and continue to improve wherever I can.
I truly wish this client all the best in their new home and all future endeavors.5.0
