Five private acres. A world of its own—without being isolated. Set behind mature areca palms in Haiku, 30 Mamao Place is an established Maui retreat shaped by more than two decades of planting, care and thoughtful improvement. Broad lawns, mature fruit trees, multiple microclimates, a large fenced garden, barn with tack room and chicken coop, and a fire pit create a rare setting for growing, gathering and living close to the land—all approximately 30 minutes from Kahului Airport. The warm 3-bedroom, 2-bath cedar residence offers approximately 2,430 square feet with soaring 20-plus-foot ceilings, custom woodwork and cabinetry, and spaces designed to be lived in and shared. The true chef’s kitchen features an oversized Wolf range, warming drawers, wine refrigeration and generous storage, while the screened lanai opens the home to the gardens. Beyond the residence, an approximately 2,500-square-foot steel workshop with a half bath and separate electric meter offers serious capacity for a home business, creative work, equipment or collections. The property also includes a detached design studio/office; a two-car garage with an attached studio and sleeping loft; a barn and tack room with chicken coop; and a nonconforming 1-bedroom, 1-bath living area. Concrete drives connect the improvements while preserving privacy between them. A beautiful home can be built and acreage can be landscaped, but maturity, privacy and an established landscape take time. 30 Mamao Place offers all three, along with usable acreage and flexible spaces that would take years to recreate. Come experience this remarkable Haiku property in person.

Ulumalu Ahupua`a, located between Haiku Road and the slopes of Haleakalā, is a rural and agricultural Haiku-Pauwela neighborhood with wide pasture views and a trade-wind, upcountry feel. The area reads as a patchwork of small farms, gulches, and long driveways, with homes ranging from plantation-era cottages to newer hillside builds. The neighborhood’s character concentrates around the Haiku Road and Kokomo Road junction, where a low-key cluster of local storefronts and coffee counters sets the daily rhythm. Colleen’s at the Cannery, Haiku Marketplace, and the Haiku Community Center act as familiar gathering points for meals, errands, and events. Life here tracks the landscape—green after rain, sunlit by late afternoon, and framed by distant ocean glimpses. Roadside fruit stands and garden gates reinforce a working-country atmosphere rather than a resort one.
