Start by creating a clutter-free space

The holiday season is a great time to slow down and reflect. Ask yourself: what is important to you now and what in your life are you holding on to that doesn’t serve you anymore? Clear out the clutter and make room for the fresh energy of the new year. This could be letting go of clothes that you don’t wear, letting go of a habit that doesn’t align with who you are, or clearing out the junk drawer. – Peacock Feng Shui

Declutter and clean the floors and surfaces with lime or lemon juice squeezed in water to refresh the space and clean out the stress and negativity stepped across the house over the year. The kitchen is related to the health of the family members residing in the house, so clean out the fridge and cabinets of expired food and condiments for a better digestive system for the holidays. – Dr Xiang Jun

Setting clear intentions is key

With energy work, the most important thing is your intention. The holidays can be a highly-charged time, and we can put a lot of pressure on ourselves to present a perfect meal, a perfect tree, perfect cleanliness. Try setting an intention of peace and contentment as you clean and decorate your space – give yourself permission to not be perfect or not impress your in-laws. – Gentle Hands Reiki

There are many ways to Feng Shui your home for the holidays. Before you start decorating your home, pause for a moment and ask yourself: what intention and energy do I want to bring into my home for the holiday season? How do I want my loved ones to feel in this environment and what kind of decor and atmosphere will mirror that? While you are holding this intention and energy in your heart, you can start choosing the decorations and lovingly place the items where your intuition is guiding you. That’s how you will not only Feng Shui your home on the outside, but also activate the Feng Shui to touch the hearts of all who enter your home. – Soul & Space

Set the tone for your home by thoughtfully decorating your entryway

Prioritize the ‘mouth of Chi’ to your home: your entryway. Create a front door area that wows and welcomes your guests with a show-stopping holiday wreath, complete with a beautiful red bow. The greenery embodies the vital life force of nature, while the circular shape and red color are considered good luck in Feng Shui. – Synergetic Spaces

The Ming Tang or Bright Hall is the entryway where Qi enters, gathers, and circulates throughout the home. By adding festive holiday decor along with crystals and sandalwood incense and candles as Feng Shui greeters, you usher in good holiday vibes. – Anita Rosenberg Feng Shui

Use Feng Shui to guide your decor placement and invite positive energy

Place your Christmas Tree west of your home or living room to bring more money, a better career, personal power, and good organization and planning. On the tree, put on plenty of twinkling lights, as well as red and gold-based decorations to further stimulate these good energies. To promote health, family energy, and good protection, place the nativity scene in the center of your home or living room this year. If you want more joy in your life and want to see your goals and objectives achieved, put your gifts in the Northeast or North of your living room or house. – Sofia Lobo Cera

Create a peaceful ambiance with warm lighting

Less is more, even during the holidays. Play with lighting to create a warm and inviting ambiance; candles, table lamps, and tinsel lights are the perfect touch and require minimal effort when decorating for the holidays. – By Sapphira

Incorporate the 5 elements to Feng Shui your home for the holiday season

When you enter your home, notice where your eye goes. Is there clutter? Areas with clutter tend to be where the energy gets stuck and can be a “dead” zone. The living room is a place of shared space, and configuring seating that creates a U-shape for guests to sit around is a way to create community. To incorporate the fire element, you can place a large circular red placemat at the center of the coffee table – think of it as sitting around a campfire. Family and guests will be drawn together for conversation or to relax. Incorporate the element of water with pitchers of water or a glass beverage dispenser with red berries, orange slices, and mint to add festive color and quench thirst. And lastly, earth abundance. Place a bowl with fruit on the counter, which is symbolic of abundance and nutrition. Oranges, in particular, are great choices because they’re warm and have segments perfect for sharing (and are also good for digestion). – Integrative Healing Arts

Incorporating the five elements in a room will make it feel balanced. Fire could be represented as a candle. Water could be a fountain or a photo of a waterfall, and the color green could represent earth. As a general rule, I tend to stay away from modern furniture with silver/metal and use a lot of warm lighting. – True Bleu Healing Arts

Use festive decor to bring the element of fire into your home

Fire element, associated with joy, sunshine, and happiness, is most abundant in summer and lacking in winter. Decorate your home with ornaments and fabric in vibrant shades of red, and add festive holiday lights throughout your living spaces to bring the Fire element into your home. Go bold with the string lights – seeing them will lift the spirits during the holidays. – Functional Feng Shui

Choose your holiday decor with the five senses in mind

Engage the five senses of your guests for the holiday party you host at home to create the perfect vibe and energy flow at your beautiful abode. For sight, consider color, decor, and placement that feels right for you. For touch, perform an energy clearing on the space with sage or palo santo so it feels light and clear. For the sense of hearing, think of music and running water. For smell, consider aromatherapy via candles, flowers, or essential oils. – Arpita Bagri Feng Shui

Don’t forget to take time for yourself

One of the best aspects of the winter holidays is the feeling of togetherness, but making time for favorite personal activities is super important and can help keep stress levels low. Whether it’s keeping up with your routine like, meditating, exercising, your favorite hobbies, or “me time” moments, these breaks can positively boost your mood and overall productivity. – Stefani Samantha

With it being the darkest time of year, we and our surroundings want (and need) more light to lift our spirits. It’s also important to manage your time for you. Be mindful of what you want to bring more joy for you this holiday, and be sure to stop and breathe. And lastly, remember “energy in, energy out.” Make sure whatever you’re giving out is not more than the energy/joy/effort in return. – Bonnie Primm

Assign seating for holiday gatherings based on Nien Yen or Love direction

When arranging the dining table for your family get-together during this holiday season, place a bowl of red apples in the areas where you spend the most time together. Make sure to allocate seating for each family member based on their Nien Yen or Love direction to bring more peace, love, and happiness among the family members. – Blooming Mushroom International Feng Shui

Use holiday scents and decor that elevate your mood

Only use colors, lighting, and items that make you feel good. If the current trend of Farmhouse neutrals doesn’t light your fire, then use what does, regardless of what is trending. Take a few minutes before you start your day to meditate, pray or just enjoy the quiet, then set your intention for peace and calm. Try a mantra, a mudra, or use a smokeless smudge spray to clear your energy field before leaving the house. – Divine Ch’i

Combine colors and elements that work together

A great way to use Feng Shui in your home during the holidays is to intentionally combine at least three colors/elements that work together. For example, a tree represents the elements of Wood and Fire based on its material and shape. The creative cycle used in Feng Shui connects elements that enhance one another. A triangular, wood tree with dark blue lights activates the elements of Water, Wood, and Fire. – Feng Shui Design Concepts

Decorate your home for the holiday festivities with items that radiate joy, love, and a sense of connection

Adorn your home alive with the spirit of celebration, gratitude, and love by only surrounding yourself with that which brings you joy, offers a deep sense of connection and celebrates you and your loved ones unequivocally. In this time of holiness, true merriment, and togetherness, life itself wishes to be cherished and honored through you and your living space. As you do, the vibration of love will exude everywhere in everything, uplifting, inspiring, and embracing all who bless you with their presence this holiday season. – Sacred Beginnings

Spend time in the West sector of your home for good feng shui during the holidays this year

From December 7, 2021 – January 5, 2022, the West sector of our homes is the perfect area to wrap presents, gather around the dinner table for a delicious meal, and share special moments with our friends and family. We have the 8 star flying which brings prosperity and abundance, and the 6 star ushering in health and healing. Spend as much time in the West sector for plenty of good vibes. – The Moon Tree

Energetic maintenance of your home will help maintain balance throughout the holiday season

Be mindful of the energies being brought into your home with holiday get-togethers and remember to do ‘energetic maintenance’ before and after for your balance and well-being. An image of every animal of the Chinese zodiac (could be hand-drawn or purchased) intentionally hung in the Tai Sui or central position of your home assures harmonious interactions between all members of a gathering- especially if you know someone you are not particularly excited about is attending. After the get-together, utilize winter citrus to cleanse the home; oranges are equal to or more powerful than sage in ridding the home of negative chi, and brings rising, uplifting chi. You can place citrus peels on plates around the home to naturally dispel negative energy, or make a spray using orange essential oil. – E Ammerman Feng Shui
