Home values continued their steady climb in May, rising 4.8 percent from a year ago to $550,000. Sales fell for the first time in three months as would-be buyers outnumbered sellers and the supply of homes on the market failed to keep up with demand. Homes have notched year-over-year price increases every month since November.
