I love the Arizona Winters, and when there is snowfall, I always head to my favorite spot; the South Rim of the Grand Canyon.  The Winters are wonderful because of the stillness and quietness of such a massive canyon, plus the lack of crowds is a plus as well.  If you go, make sure to dress extremely warm and get to the canyon’s edge to watch the sun as it rises, It’s a magical sight to behold. -David Williams 

1. San Francisco Peaks 

San Francisco Peaks is a majestic mountain range located near Flagstaff, Arizona. It is the highest mountain range in Arizona, with Humphreys Peak, the tallest summit in the state, reaching a height of 12,633 feet. The Peaks are a popular destination for hiking, skiing, and other outdoor activities. Visitors can take in the stunning views of the surrounding forests and valleys, as well as the breathtaking landscapes that stretch out for miles.

2. Walnut Canyon National Monument

Walnut Canyon National Monument is a stunning natural wonder that’s located just a few miles east of Flagstaff. The canyon is home to ancient cliff dwellings that were built by the Sinagua people more than 700 years ago. The trail that winds through the canyon offers stunning views of the dwellings and the surrounding landscape.

3. Fort Valley Flower Field 

Fort Valley Flower Field is a beautiful and serene location located in Flagstaff, Arizona. The field is a stunning display of colorful wildflowers that bloom in the spring and summer months. Visitors can take a leisurely stroll through the field, take in the breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains, and enjoy the peaceful ambiance of the area.

I love Fort Valley Flower Field in Flagstaff. In late summer the wildflowers bloom and it’s just an endless view of bright yellow with a mountain backdrop. My wife and I once went there in late summer with our new puppy, we had a great time in the fields! -Michael Haslim 

4. Kendrick Park 

Kendrick Park is a beautiful and serene natural area located near Flagstaff, Arizona. The park is known for its dense forests of ponderosa pine, as well as its stunning views of the surrounding mountains. On your way to the Grand Canyon, you will find Kendrick Park. A great location to witness an incredible sunset where the northern facing peaks turn pink.  There is also a lot of wildlife and it is a lovely place to witness the flowers blooming after the monsoon. -Alexandre Nilles

5. Coconino National Forest

Coconino National Forest is a massive forest that covers over 1.8 million acres of land. The forest is home to a variety of wildlife, including elk, deer, and coyotes.
