Whoopi Goldberg (whose real name is Caryn Johnson), just listed a piece of property in Berkeley, California, that she has owned since 1985. The property comes with two homes for the price of one; there’s a beautifully restored 1890 Victorian-style home, and a two-story barn that has been (illegally) converted into an adorable cottage. The compound is on the market for $1.275 million.
The main residence looks like a home you’d find in New Orleans, with a large front porch and gingerbread-style overhangs and columns. The Victorian style extends to the interior, which has soaring ceilings, hardwood floors, wood molding and period fixtures. The kitchen and bathrooms have been updated, but still retain the look and feel of the rest of the home.
The cottage in the backyard looks like it could be featured in a magazine. The loft upstairs has a wood floor, walls and ceiling, giving it a very rustic feel. There’s also a full kitchen and bath, making it a great guest house for those who plan to stay awhile.
The property is in the heart of Berkeley, just four blocks away from the University of California Berkeley and a 10 minute drive to the marina.
